Aurora Biotech wishes to signal its new research campus in Texas. Its board approves an amendment substituting "Texas" for the existing geographical reference in the corporate name. Because the change consists solely of altering a geographical attribution, the corporation files the amendment directly with the secretary of state and avoids the shareholder vote that would otherwise be necessary for a broader name change.
Adam Anderson conveys Blackacre to his daughter for life, remainder to such of her children as reach age thirty, but if none do then to a named charity. Because the identity of the ultimate taker is postponed until the life tenant's death, the second limitation is treated as subject to a condition precedent rather than vested, preventing any improper preference over the first-stated interest.
