Does a security interest in an accession continue after the collateral is installed in larger goods?+
Yes. The interest continues in the accession provided the accession retains its separate identity. The rule protects the specific description in the security agreement even after physical integration occurs.
When does perfection in an accession remain effective after installation?+
Perfection continues if the interest was already perfected at the moment the collateral became an accession. Filing before installation therefore preserves the secured party's priority position relative to later claimants.
How is priority determined between an interest in an accession and an interest in the whole?+
Priority is governed by the ordinary rules of Part 3 unless a certificate-of-title statute applies. When a title statute perfects the interest in the whole the accession interest is subordinate to that interest.
